An Anonymous Email
I’m sharing with you an email I received last week via YouTube. First a clarification: My primary concern so far has been making the evidential information freely available that Scientology has been trying to hide or dismiss, so that people who know little about the organization or are curious about it can make up their own mind or at least conduct their own research before the lies and propaganda of Scientology get to them first. There are two types of Scientologists we are talking about. The first one consists of the likes of the late L. Ron Hubbard and David Miscavige, top leaders whose sole purpose and intention is monetary gain, political power, and the destruction of anyone who stands in the way, i.e. enemies of the church. There are, however, decent Scientologists that were simply tricked and brainwashed into it and have not the slightest idea of what is really going on. They don’t know anything about the Fair Game policy; they think Operation Freakout or Operation Snow White are just some Cyber legend made up by “terrorists against the church”; Disconnect is thrust upon them whereas they are led to believe that it is for their own good. How does this happen? Because the Scientology corporation has either been carefully restricting their access to such information or brainwashing them so thoroughly that members only believe what their “religion” says. What these innocent people choose to believe and practice is none of my business, although I do hope that they have equal access to the legal and journalistic documentations as well as personal and judicial testimonies against Scientology that we take for granted; it’s the top level officials and the organization’s militias who set up front groups raving about religious freedom and human rights but in fact are practicing everything they publicly denounce and condemn that I’m speaking out against. Scientology itself is not a religion; I am even reluctant to call it a cult these days. Scientology is a commercial enterprise and a political organization that preys on innocent people on the one hand, and networks individuals with nefarious purposes in the fields of mass media, politics and the entertainment industry on the other; a “church” that hides behind the shield of religion, who will not turn the other geek and will do anything to silence or even destroy critics.
I wish people would ask more questions about Shawn Lonsdale.
But I regress. The email makes several interesting points and suggests some very good ideas. So feel free to pass it on to anyone willing to take a stand against the Scientology corporation.

Hello.
I believe you are undertaking a serious effort to compel Scientologists and Scientology Apologists to question their ideology, their administration, and general behavior. Thus far, you have done an exemplary job in preaching to the choir, though not the choir you may have initially hoped to preach to.
Anonymous is listening, though Scientology is not.
Now, you must listen. The Church of Scientology has stepped up their campaign of misinformation ten fold. They are making whatever their celebrity puppets say on the subject of Scientology into a carefully designed and perfectly rehearsed production of polished lies. Their expertise in spinning knows no bounds and the populace is not sufficiently mentally guarded to weigh arguments which depend entirely on appeals to emotion or esoteric empirical minutia under the instruments of some elite laboratory on their own.
I am proposing an unconventional mode of attack which you have been deemed well adapted to carry out.
Follow this link: http://www.scientologytoday.org/Common/question/index.htm
Near the bottom of that page you will find a category of questions titled “Misconceptions About Scientology”.
They “answer”, “rebut”, “debunk”, or plain dismiss every common criticism against Scientology. They also dish a trough of red herrings and Public Relations sound bites with expertly refined semantics-based refutations to said criticisms.
In the manner Michael Behe has come to answer Richard Dawkins, and Kenneth Miller has come to answer Michael Behe, you must match, blow for blow, the perversion of logic and language by the most tortured and conditioned inner party members of Ingsoc’s Apologists…Scientology’s Apologists.
This method of staying one step ahead of Scientology and their Public Relations idiot savants is sure to spread. They have labeled you and anonymous as terrorists and religious bigots as a brilliantly orchestrated and finely tuned red herring and though we anticipated it, we did nothing to preempt it.
Truth is on our side. We can adapt, they cannot. Their extinction or reformation is inevitable.
Informing the public simply isn’t good enough. As I have said, the vast majority of humans simply lack the capacity to think critically, rationally, and unemotionally about contrivances like reincarnation or videos of UFOs. Most cultures in this world do not embrace a philosophy of empiricism. Most do not even know what science is. LRH taught his disciples the definition of its Latin derivation, but very conveniently left out teaching the process of the scientific method which would have doomed his religion and truly made the world a better place.
It is so easy…it has always been so easy, for someone like LRH to invent something like Dianetics and construct precisely the same kind entity which has retarded humanity for thousands of years and which countless people have struggled and died for to reform and tame for the sedation of individuals as opposed to the total enslavement.
Informing the public is not enough. The public is saturated with “causes” and they are apathetic or indifferent. They wouldn’t have been accepted into Scientology anyway with such an attitude.
Anonymous has been attacking this from the top-down. Beginning with the “end phenomenon” rather than the root cause. The tragedies and atrocities committed by Scientology makes good appeals to emotion, but it’s just more of the same and holds none of the true power to convince the intellect.
Those engaged in this reformation must properly diagnose the disease to attempt cure it, rather than treating the symptoms.
The Scientologists already have their fine tuned sound bites to swat down the tired old common criticisms and when read by the common person in an attempt to “hear both sides”, they will work. It is so easy to label anonymous as “domestic terrorists” or people like you a “religious hate group” committing “hate crimes” and broadcasting “hate speech” so when the average person sitting on the fence hears this, they cling to these words which they have already been so conditioned by mainstream media to cue a purely emotional response (for the exact purpose of overriding rational deliberation). It works brilliantly.
There are so few, even among the likes of us, who have the ability to articulate a rock solid, objective, quantitative reason for why anyone should be so opposed to Scientology.
“It’s a dangerous cult” or “it ruins families” is just not enough. Even with all the hard evidence to back it up, Scientology has already got a bag of sound bites to swat it down.
So what do I mean when I say we must act preemptively to Scientology? We cannot just raise a tired old objection which we know Scientology has already justified with a fit-to-print perversion of language. We have to know what they are going to say before they say it and incorporate that with a working knowledge of people’s natural biases to formulate a concise and penetrating thesis.
People aren’t mentally equipped to weigh the arguments. They are too accustomed to being spoon fed information in absolutes.
You don’t need my permission to quote anything I say, so long as you do NOT give me credit.
