Linux is Everything and Everywhere
It’s the 4th Friday of the month and you know it’s time for your favorite A Gentle Introduction to Linux for Non-Geeks again! You have probably heard about the awesome OLPC project and the Asus eee PC, both of which have Linux as its running operating system. Their popularity got the attention of Bill Gates, who now wants to put his Windows OS on both machines! Thom Holwerda from OS News sums it up perfectly:

If you’re curious about Linux but not sure if it’s for you, why not ask the assistant in a mobile phone shop to show you some Linux based Smartphones? So far we’ve only been discussing Linux but not really using Linux. I am actually still contemplating on which distro and what kind of installation would provide the smoothest transition for the first-time Linux user and the most ideal environment for learning the Linux OS. Hopefully we will start using Linux beginning April/May. So stay tuned!
